Berlin (dts) - After 1.100 people took part in a demonstration in Hamburg on Saturday that was organized by the “Muslim Interaktiv” group, which the state Office for the Protection of the Constitution classified as an extremist effort, the chairman of the CSU state group in the Bundestag, Alexander Dobrindt , called for tough measures against the initiators. “Anyone who wants to introduce Sharia law in Germany and proclaim a caliphate is an enemy of our democracy,” Dobrindt told “Bild” (Wednesday edition).

“The state must deal with it with consistency and severity. Ms. Faeser must now implement measures as quickly as possible to stop Islamist propaganda in Germany,” said the CSU politician. “In Germany the following applies: the rule of law instead of the state of God.”

Specifically, Dobrindt spoke out in favor of prison sentences. Accordingly, anyone who publicly calls for the abolition of the free democratic basic order and, for example, wants a so-called theocracy should be liable to prosecution in the future. A minimum prison sentence of six months should be aimed for. In addition, paragraph 17 paragraph 1 of the Nationality Act should be supplemented by a further variant. According to this, someone should lose their citizenship if they publicly call for the abolition of the free democratic basic order, said Dobrindt. In addition, such Islamists should lose their right to benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act.
