Berlin (dts) - Sahra Wagenknecht, chairwoman of the BSW, wants to campaign against an increase in the broadcasting fee. “A further increase in broadcasting fees from 2025 is completely wrong,” she told the news portal T-Online. The additional 58 cents per household would “only further undermine public support for the ÖRR”.

The Commission for Determining the Financial Requirements of Broadcasters (KEF) recently recommended increasing the broadcasting fee by 2025 cents to 58 euros per month from 18,94. The increase is intended to ensure that public broadcasters can continue to fulfill their tasks despite rising costs and the necessary digital transformation. The broadcasters actually wanted to have significantly more money.

“The BSW will position itself against an increase in contributions in the state election campaigns,” said Wagenknecht. “The vast majority of citizens expect noticeable reforms and more diversity of opinion at the ÖRR instead of ever higher spending.”

Wagenknecht criticizes the commission's decision: "The federal states should reject the increase in the broadcasting fee proposed by the KEF." She calls for stronger reforms of the broadcasters - in her opinion, citizens expect "more diversity of opinions on the ÖRR instead of ever higher spending".
