CSU: No more Bundeswehr administrative assistance in caring for refugees

Berlin (dts) - According to CSU defense politician Florian Hahn, the Bundeswehr should only focus on its operational capability and no longer provide administrative assistance with the corona crisis or the care of refugees. “As soon as the Bundeswehr is out of Corona aid, it is supposed to get back into the wave of refugees,” he told “Bild am Sonntag”. And further: “Who should be surprised about a lack of defense preparedness when our soldiers can no longer do their core business.”

In view of the war in Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense also wants to concentrate on its task of national and alliance defense. A spokesman told “Bild am Sonntag”: “In view of the current demands on the Bundeswehr, the return to basic operations with its training and exercise plans is of great importance for fully ensuring national and alliance defense.” Around 170 soldiers are still working The Bundeswehr, with around 80 soldiers, is providing administrative assistance in combating the pandemic and caring for refugees.
