Berlin (dts) - Before the FDP party conference, SPD leader Saskia Esken warned the Liberals not to raise doubts about the existence of the traffic light coalition. “In view of the current international crises, it would contradict state political responsibility to weaken the German position by questioning the coalition,” Esken told the “Editorial Network Germany” (Saturday editions) when asked about the FDP’s positioning.
“We still have a lot to do together. And despite all the differences, one must not forget: A lot of things are decided and implemented without any dispute.” “This coalition was formed with a lot of courage – and also out of state political responsibility,” said Esken. “The idea was that very different partners could advance the country precisely by putting their different ideas together.”
The FDP is meeting on Saturday for a two-day federal party conference. Liberal leaders had repeatedly shown their distance from the traffic light coalition.
