Berlin (dts) – A two-day party conference of the FDP began in Berlin on Saturday morning. The program includes, among other things, an “accountability report” by FDP leader Christian Lindner and a speech by Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, who is running as the top candidate for the European elections.

The FDP leadership had already warmed up in advance with a 12-point plan for the party conference, which is to be approved by the delegates there. The paper contains classic FDP demands and could therefore provide explosive material in the traffic light coalition. These include calls for a higher retirement age and cuts in benefits for the unemployed.

In polls for the federal election, the FDP is currently at four to six percent and is currently worried about returning to the Bundestag. There is also a risk of a reality check in the European elections in June, but then there will be no five percent hurdle.
