Berlin (dts) - The Federal Government Commissioner for Repatriate Issues and National Minorities, Natalie Pawlik (SPD), sees an increased receptivity to Russian propaganda and, in individual cases, a willingness to spy among Russian Germans who consume Russian-language media.

“Most Germans from Russia are fully integrated into our society and see themselves as Germans,” she told the “Editorial Network Germany”. “Russian-Germans and Russian-speaking people are particularly exposed to Russian disinformation and propaganda because they are explicitly addressed as a target group - especially when they consume Russian-language media offerings and are therefore easier to reach.” This means that some Russian-Germans and Russian-speaking people supported the perspective propagated by Russia.

In turn, it cannot be ruled out that individual Russian-Germans and Russian-speaking people living in the Federal Republic will show solidarity with Russia and, in individual cases, even proactively offer themselves up for intelligence activities or allow themselves to be recruited for this purpose. The SPD politician said: “Stigmatization and generalizing statements in this direction have no basis.”
