Berlin (dts) - Union parliamentary group vice-president Johann Wadephul warns that the army will be overwhelmed and the defense budget will collapse in view of the billions in costs promised by the Ministry of Defense for the permanent Bundeswehr brigade in Lithuania.
“There is a risk that the brigade will overwhelm the army and cause the Ministry of Defense’s financial planning to collapse,” he told the “Editorial Network Germany”. Given the considerable amount of money spent on this task alone, it is a mystery how the federal government wants to set up a sustainable budget. Wadephul added: “The defense minister had made his deployment announcement without considering the necessary follow-up decisions. Now he is faced with the task of raising this enormous sum.”
