Wiesbaden (dts) - Hesse's Prime Minister Boris Rhein (CDU) sharply criticizes the minimum wage demands of the SPD and the Greens and rejects reform of the responsible commission.

“A minimum wage debate is the wrong signal at the wrong time,” said Rhein to the “Editorial Network Germany”. Germany is currently at the top in terms of burdens and bottom in terms of growth. “We have to change that again, otherwise our companies will not have the money for investments and also for higher wages. We can’t always add more money everywhere.”

Rhein warned of further burdens on companies. “The wages must be affordable for companies,” added the CDU politician. “The Minimum Wage Commission consciously decides without politicians, and nothing should change.” The CDU politician called it “right” that it is not the state that decides on wages and tariffs, but the social partners. “This is a recipe for success of the social market economy that has sustained us for decades.”
